Through videos, experiential exercises, powerpoint presentations, and practice sessions, your staff will learn about the Spirit and Principles of MI along with the basic OARS Skills, how to elicit change talk, and how to avoid counseling traps that decrease motivation.
❖ ADVANCING MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING SKILLS
This training advances your staff’s ability to execute the MI skills effectively. In this fun and interactive training, your staff will learn advanced uses of MI skills during different Stages of Change, watch video demonstrations and have time to plenty of time to practice using these skills.
❖ EMOTIONAL REGULATION/STRESS MANAGEMENT SKILLS
for Addiction, Trauma, Mood Disorders & Parenting
Learn a 5 point “brain state” model and the 5 corresponding tools clients can use in therapy, on their own, and throughout the treatment milieu to stay emotionally regulated and return to a regulated state when dysregulated. Repeated use of these skills over time has been shown to decrease stress, improve mood, and turn down addictive drives.
❖ PARENTING CLASS SKILLS: RAISING AN EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT CHILD
Train your staff to provide a parenting class based on the long-term research of John Gottman, Love and Logic, and the book, How to Talk so Your Kids will Listen and Listen so Your Kids Will Talk. This class both decreases conflict and increases the parent child-bond by teaching parents practical skills for reflecting children’s emotions while also providing healthy limits on behavior. Your staff will leave with all handouts and powerpoint slides to present this fun, informative and interactive six-week course that can be adapted to teach parents with children of any age.
❖ PROVIDING TRAUMA INFORMED CARE
Unaddressed trauma is the number one reason that many clients are unresponsive to treatment for addictions and mood disorders. This training looks at the many ways that trauma manifests in the lives of clients and interventions that can help.
2 DAY STAFF/MANAGEMENT TRAINING
❖ INCREASING WORKPLACE INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Creating a healthy and respectful work environment is of utmost importance for the success of your treatment center. These skills will enhance healthy and effective communication, staff satisfaction and client success!
2-4 DAY HOUSE MANAGEMENT/PSYCH TECHNICIAN TRAINING
❖ DECREASING CLIENT DYSREGULATION
House management and psychiatric technicians often spend the most one on one time with your clients during residential treatment and can influence both treatment outcomes and client satisfaction. Yet, they often have the least amount of professional training. Give your staff the skills to reduce stress in the milieu, prevent conflict, and keep clients on a positive treatment trajectory outside of the clinical day.
